Yawn.. You know, it's not that I obsessed with stamps...
Suddenly, I typed in deviantArt searching box two words: "realistic wolf". (why did I search for wolf? Because it's among the most popular subjects on dA)
Do the same and enjoy watching how realism varies in people mind.

It's very hard to figure out, what is realism? What are requirements? So, yes, realism is subjective, what makes no sense to me. I'm not even trying to say that it's bad that there is no real definition of realism, but I find it strange when work like this - [link] - called "so realistic", when works like this - [link] - is realistic too, but seems actually real. First work doesn't seem any realistic to me. I'm not sure why I say "nowadays", I can't judge the former art critics any way.
Again, I don't think it's bad stuff, there are different levels of realism, I suppose.. The whole realism concept doesn't make any sense to me any more. At least, in bounds of my own art!

Well it does come in different degrees, but so far actual realism it seems to be at least visual art wise, art that follows a set of strict rules a guidelines, at least this is what I have heard, now those guidelines I assume to be may be art that doesn't stray so much from the boundaries of life, like a human is symmetrical, features are not exaggerated, it has texture and is proportionate to whatever they're trying to draw from life. That is my guess but it seems realism can apply to many art forms like you mix with anime, semi realism which is art that has the properties of realism but is not photo realistic ( it seems many art especially fantasy art falls under this realism) and photo-realism or realistic, this is the realism that comes to many peoples head when they thing of realism art. This is my thoughts on it, but I have been thinking the same thing to
